Ode in the charts

19 10 2008

Whilst Ode’s progress to #20 in the album chart was unspectacular, it’s trip to #2 in the indie album charts was more impressive. To qualify, the album must be released independently from a major record label, and Red Telephone Box isn’t one of those yet. Unfortunately, the album at number 1 was Stop The Clocks, Oasis’ infamous singles collection which the band encourage people not to buy, which was released nearly two years ago. OK, the new Oasis tunes will have renewed interest, but it’s still a disappointing result. To help promote the album, check back in a few days for some flashing attention-grabbing things to put on your myspace, facebook, blog etc.

Live in Nürnberg – webstream

Fran on stage
Even Fran’s sarchastic comments didn’t seem to affect the characterless crowd

Another evening, another webstream, this time from a small festival featuring a large number of odd and hugely irritating singers/screamers who all turned out not to be Travis. Eventually, the first few chords of Side rang out over a subdued audience, and a private boardie party ensued despite the difficulties Travis were having on stage. You can hear almost all of it below – my software stopped recording during WTRY so the first chorus is missing.

Travis live in Berlin – webstream

12 10 2008

Thanks to the wonders of the internet, Travis are now adorning our computers as well as our stereos and… well not our radios actually, they’re never on the radio. They played a full 17 song set similar to the UK gigs and generally rocked! Thankfully, our recording devices on hand, so click here for the audio and click here for the video, kindly recorded by the.man.who.
